Prayer Topic, “The Stump”.

Join Us in Prayer for our Nation, our Leaders and Topics of Concern for the week of 11/28/14 - 12/4/14

The Stump

A withered tree stump; no lovely arching branches or majestic trunk, just old and ugly – could it possibly be good for anything but the fire? Isaiah 10 talks about how God chops down the arrogant like one felling tall trees. The actual people being addressed are the decedents of Israel. They had forgotten God and become disobedient. Great foreign armies came and enslaved them. It was a dark time.

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.
Isaiah 11:1

Then Isaiah 11 tells of a shoot coming up from a old stump…and there is not just a hint of life in the new sprout, there is an abundance of it. It will become the source of life for all! Isaiah is using the analogy of the tree stump to foretell that God will still bring the Messiah through Israel’s descendants. When Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross, He not only paid the price for all people’s disobedience towards God, He released believers from the heritage of sin.

Give thanks today for the amazing gift of your Savior’s sacrifice. Pray that many across America will believe and convey a heritage of abundant life to every dry and dark place in the land.

Prayer Topic, "Hidden in the Quiver" ***

Join Us in Prayer for our Nation, our Leaders and Topics of Concern for the week of 11/21/14 - 11/27/14

Hidden in the Quiver

There’s a plot to eradicate the Jewish race from Earth. Sound familiar? It’s been going on continually since the beginning of their history.

That these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, in every clan, province, and city.
Esther 9:28

One particular scheme, taking place in 474 BC, was gloriously foiled by a young woman named Esther. She was separated from her parents and raised in a foreign kingdom. Her identity as a Jewess was hidden and, as far as anyone knew, she was just another maiden in waiting for the King. Yet at the critical moment, when God had every player on their mark, Esther’s true identity was revealed. Like an arrow expertly placed, Esther’s work pierced through the heart of the enemy’s evil plan. Jewish people still celebrate the days when God used Esther to save them. Esther’s very appropriate name is taken from the Hebrew root “hester,” meaning “hidden.”

Today you may feel like just another Christ-follower facing a hostile culture, but remember Esther! God has a plan for America and, while you may not see how all the pieces fit together, be assured at the right moment your faithful prayers will hit their target. He has chosen you, and will be glorified through you as your obediently intercede.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 (KJV)

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Prayer Topic, "Pass the Baton"

Join Us in Prayer for our Nation, our Leaders and Topics of Concern for the week of 11/14/14 - 11/20/14

Pass the Baton
In Houston, Texas, people joined together a few years ago for 40 days of fasting and prayer. Pastors and leaders from various denominations and ethnicities reconciled and embraced each other, and spiritual and emotional walls fell as they worshipped the Lord in unity. People streamed to the altar every night, eager to get right with God. They even renamed the large outdoor amphitheater in which they met “Prayer Mountain.”
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
John 3:17
Then something just as amazing happened. Houston passed the spiritual baton to Dallas who began 40 days of fasting and prayer. Kansas City, Missouri, Pasadena, California and Katy, Texas followed.

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer.” (I Peter 3:12) Give thanks for the leaders across this nation who love Him and whose words and actions are helping to lead many to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord to give them amazing strength and boldness to stand up for righteousness, and to keep their hearts faithful to Him in all situations. Then seek to abide in His love and eagerly pass it along to others.
