Prayer for our Nation, its Leaders and Topics of Concern for 10/3/13 - 10/9/13

Who’s Calling?

When the Lord showed Amos he was about to send a plague of locusts on Israel, Amos interceded and God relented. Next, the Lord showed Amos a great fire consuming the ocean and land. Again, Amos mediated and the Lord spared the nation.

Behold, the Lord was standing beside a wall built with a plumb line, with a plumb line in his hand.
Amos 7:7

Lastly, God showed Amos a plumb line and said King Jeroboam would die and Israel would be exiled. God would withhold His judgment no longer. The priest Amaziah accused Amos of speaking words too hard to bear. Amos replied that prophesying wasn’t his own idea. He was minding his own business of raising sheep and figs when the Lord called him.

Amos obeyed God even though he felt inadequate for the job. How often do God’s people disobey, thinking they aren’t equipped to do what He calls them to do? When the Lord asks you to do something, look at God’s abilities – not at your own. It may not be your calling to be a leader, but it is your mission to pray for leaders (I Timothy 2:1-2). You might have every excuse not to, but look to the One who does the calling.

Be BOLD in Prayer Today for Treasury Department - Richard Berner, Director of the Office of Financial Research.

The Office of Financial Research (OFR) was established by Congress to serve the Financial Stability Oversight Council, its member agencies, and the public by improving the quality, transparency, and accessibility of financial data and information; by conducting and sponsoring research related to financial stability; and by promoting best practices in risk management.

As the Lord leads, BOLDLY pray:

·        That God would reveal Himself mightily in the life of Richard Berner, drawing Mr. Berner closer to Himself and His grace.

·        For the activities of the Office of Financial Research and the leadership of Dr. Berner.   For an outpouring of God’s love upon Richard, Bonnie and their children.

Additional Topics for Prayer:

 Americans Reject by 61 Percent the Obama Demand for Clean Debt Vote

Americans by a 2-to-1 ratio disagree with President Barack Obama’s contention that Congress should raise the U.S. debt limit without conditions.

Advocates for immigrants have gained ground in the last six months in their long fight against a U.S. policy allowing federal immigration officials to screen suspects in local jails. Now they are close to notching their biggest victory yet.

The Obama administration is stepping up the pressure on uninsured Americans - especially young Americans -- to sign up and buy health insurance on the new state exchanges that open next week.

Shutdown in 3rd day with debt trouble looming

Following an unproductive White House meeting late Wednesday over the shutdown, GOP and Democratic leaders said little progress was made.

 Pray fervently for our Nations Leaders to come to an agreement.

All prayer requests are made directly from our Presidential Prayer Leader.  We ask you all  to pray for our leaders as the scripture says.

 1 Timothy 2:1-3

  King James Version (KJV)

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
